WBU Band to perform at L.I.S.D. extravaganza

The Wayland Baptist University marching band will be a featured performer at the Lubbock Independent School District's 19th Annual Band Extravaganza slated for 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at Lowrey Field. Themed "We Believe in Music," the event will feature the bands from each of Lubbock's four high schools as well as the Texas Tech University "Goin' Band." The evening will also feature a finale performance by a 1500-member massed L.I.S.D. band, including 72 Lubbock sixth-graders.

Under the direction of Tim Kelley, Wayland's 55-member band will kick off the event with its 2002 program titled "A Spanish Fantasy." The WBU band will also play the national anthem.

The extravaganza is $3 per person at the stadium. Lowrey Field is located east of University off 66th Street in Lubbock.
