Hobbs native receives UPS Scholarship at Wayland

Gina Wilson, a senior at Wayland Baptist University, has been awarded the United Parcel Service Scholarship for the 2002-03 school year.

The $3,500 scholarship was awarded through Texas Independent College Fund, a clearinghouse for many corporate and foundation grants to students. Wilson was nominated by the university to receive the award.

"We felt that because of the amount of loans Gina already had and because she's such a hard worker that we wanted to nominate her to receive this scholarship," said Perri McDonald, scholarship coordinator in Wayland's office of financial aid.

Wilson is an elementary education major and religion minor from Hobbs, N.M. and expects to graduate in December 2003. She is the daughter of Daryl and Sandy Wilson.
