Wayland to host prospective students at Gold Rush preview

Wayland Baptist University will welcome prospective students to the Plainview campus on Nov. 16 for the Gold Rush preview event.

An all-day event, Gold Rush features an introduction to the campus and university life, with emphasis on admissions requirements, financial aid issues and academic opportunities.

Campus tours will be given, and lunch will feature a performance by Rejoice, a singing ensemble, an information fair and drawings for prizes and scholarships. Students will then have the opportunity to audition for scholarships in music, theatre and art in the afternoon and can also get acquainted with current students and check out campus facilities.

The evening wraps up with the theatre production Shorts and the City, featuring short plays and musical numbers from Broadway hits.

Gold Rush begins with check-in and continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in the Moody Science Building. The event is $6 per person, which covers breakfast, lunch and admission to the play.

Registration can be done in advance but is not required. Parents are welcome to join their students for the day as well.
