Recitals spotlight clarinet, organ
Two music recitals are planned for the week, spotlighting the clarinet and the organ. Wayland Baptist University's Department of Music is hosting the efforts.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, a recital featuring Bob Spring on clarinet is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Harral Auditorium. Katie McLin on violin and Andrew Campbell on piano will also join Spring during the recital. The three are members of Trio del Sol. Spring is Professor of Clarinet at Arizona State University and principal clarinet of the ProMusic Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, Ohio. The recital is free and open to the public.
Spring will be offering a master class in clarinet fundamentals and extended techniques with student performances and critiques that afternoon at 5:45 p.m. in Harral Auditorium. The class will cost $10 for the public and is free to Wayland music students.
On Friday, March 1, Wayland's organist emeritus, Earl W. Miller, will present his annual Lenten Organ Recital at 12:35 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 8th and Joliet Streets in Plainview. Dr. Sandra Mosteller will join Miller on the flute for portions of the recital. The recital is free and open to the public as a celebration of the Lenten season.
