Wayland music groups to join for American Family Christmas

Numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles from Wayland Baptist University's Department of Music will join forces Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. for their annual production "American Family Christmas." Admission is free.

Held in Harral Auditorium, the event is a holiday kickoff for the whole family, with seasonal performances by the International Choir, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Wayland Singers, Handbell Ensemble, Wayland Singing Men and Women, Spirit, Woodwind Ensemble, Flute Choir, Wayland Brass, Percussion Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble.

Dr. Carl Moman, chair of the Division of Fine Arts, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event, with Jennie Lynn Hodges accompanying on organ and piano and Dr. Gary Belshaw accompanying on piano. Conductors include many of the Wayland music faculty: Dr. Scott Herrington, Timothy Kelley, Robert Black, Dr. Ann Stutes, Dr. Sandra Mosteller, Kevin Riley and Pat Brown.

Carrying out the festive feel, members of Te Deum, the music student service organization, will decorate the auditorium for the holidays. The audience will be invited to participate in carol singing.

Pre-concert music will begin at 7 p.m. and a reception with music will follow the concert.
