Sanders received honor from alma mater
David Sanders of Plano received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Wayland Baptist University at Homecoming Chapel on Nov. 15.
A 1977 graduate of Wayland, Sanders works for Nextel Communications as a consultant for communication systems. He designed and developed a model that predicts switch capacity as switches are added to networks. He also serves as a consultant for Goldstein & Polasek LLP of Houston as an expert assisting the legal team prosecuting claims of patent infringement. Sanders spent four years in England working as a consultant for Cellnet, helping to formulate their communications infrastructure and putting it into place.
Sanders also holds a master's degree in mathematics from Lehigh University. He is married to the former Janis Mowery, a 1976 WBU graduate. He and his two brothers, both Wayland graduates, and their spouses formed an endowed scholarship last year honoring their parents, John D. and Phyllis Sanders.
