PLAINVIEW — A group of 12 students and two faculty members from Christ University campuses in Bangalore and Lavasa, India, have arrived at Wayland Baptist University’s Plainview campus for a two-week cultural and academic exchange program.
The delegation, which arrived Monday, Oct. 14, will remain at Wayland through Tuesday, Oct. 29. During their stay, the group is participating in a variety of activities designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and promote learning, especially in the area of environmental and economic sustainability. They are also engaging in academic observation, attending Wayland classes, chapel services, and student life activities, while staying in on-campus residences.
“We are excited to welcome these students and faculty members to our campus,” said Dr. Cindy McClenagan, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “This exchange offers an incredible opportunity for both Christ University and Wayland Baptist students to learn from each other, gaining new perspectives on culture, education, and sustainability. Several Wayland administrators were extended gracious hospitality when we visited CU’s Lavasa, India, location in spring 2024, and so we were pleased to reciprocate that warm welcome here at our Plainview campus this fall.”
The delegation can be seen interacting with the Wayland community, both in the classroom and in less formal settings like the cafeteria and at athletic events. Highlights of their visit include a tour of Wayland’s Abraham Art Gallery, a visit to the Bayer Lubbock facility, and a hike through Palo Duro Canyon to explore its environmental history. The delegation is joining in other student activities such as attending sporting events, including soccer and volleyball games.
