MyMajors: New tool to enhance career journey for students and alumni

PLAINVIEW, TX — Wayland Baptist University announces the launch of MyMajors, a cutting-edge tool designed to revolutionize the Pioneer Career Center and support prospective students considering WBU.

The MyMajors initiative is part of Wayland’s commitment to providing students and alumni with essential resources to aid in their academic and career success.

“Students and alumni now have free access to MyMajors, a tool that will empower them to make informed decisions about their academic and career journeys,” said Jeffrey Vera, Director of Alumni and Career Services. “This new service reflects our dedication to guiding our students and alumni toward success in their chosen fields.”

During the past few years, the Pioneer Career Center has utilized an assessment tool to assist students who were undecided on a major or considering a change. While that service fulfilled its purpose, there was a need for a more comprehensive tool that could offer both career path guidance and insights into prospective majors at the university. This led to the selection of MyMajors, marking the beginning of a new era for the Pioneer Career Center.

MyMajors is a web-based career-planning service designed to help students create a clear pathway to complete their degrees. The College Major Assessment within MyMajors evaluates students’ academic achievements, aspirations, work experience, and personal preferences. It then suggests academic majors available at Wayland.

“Students in the right major are more likely to enroll, persist, and graduate on time, which aligns with Wayland’s goal of fostering academic success and commitment to excellence,” Vera said.
