PLAINVIEW — Wayland Baptist University’s Hispanic Student Association is bringing warmth and happiness to pets at Paws Pet Adoption of Plainview this Christmas season, but Kimberly Sanchez-Tovar says they need the public’s help.

“We are asking students, faculty, staff, and the public to donate blankets or pet toys for these precious animals,” said Sanchez-Tovar, who serves as Wayland’s Hispanic & Latino Serving Financial Aid Adviser.

Through Wednesday, Dec. 13, blankets and toys can be brought to the Financial Aid Office in Gates Hall, where there will be a collection box.

Wayland’s Hispanic Student Association is also conducting a Christmas present raffle to raise funds to help Paws Pet Adoption with food and veterinarian expenses. The Christmas present contains an assort ment of Christmas-themed items and snacks. Tickets are $5 each and may be purchased while dropping off blankets and pet toys at the Financial Aid Office.

Sanchez-Tovar said information about adopting a pet from Paws Pet Adoption is also available. “If you or someone you know would be interested in adopting a pet, please let us know and we will help you get in contact with Paws,” she said.
