Double your gift to Wayland during Giving Tuesday

PLAINVIEW — A $50,000 challenge grant makes it possible for alumni, friends, and other supporters of Wayland Baptist University to double their gifts to the Core Mission Fund during Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28.

“Gifts up to $50,000 will be matched during Giving Tuesday,” said Teresa Young, a development officer with Wayland’s Office of Advancement. “Each gift doubles the investment in Wayland’s Core Mission Fund, so there is no better time to support the university than this Tuesday.”

Young noted that giving to Wayland is especially rewarding for alumni and friends as investment in current students becomes an extension of personal ministry. Giving to the Core Mission Fund makes Wayland accessible and affordable to more students, she said.

“Donors really are able to expand their impact on the world by investing in Wayland and the students on our campuses,” the development officer said. “We view Giving Tuesday as a team event with alumni, friends and others coming together to enhance the university.”

A global event, Giving Tuesday started in 2012 as a single day to encourage people to do good by giving, both monetarily and through acts of kindness and assistance. Now in its 11th year, Giving Tuesday has become a tradition at Wayland. The matching grant makes Giving Tuesday especially important this year.

“With every passing year, we’re inspired even more to see the generosity of our friends and alumni,” Young said. “Giving Tuesday often sparks continued generosity throughout the year, through planned giving, estate gifts, endowed scholarships and other opportunities to be a part of what God is doing at Wayland.”
