PLAINVIEW – While the Jimmy Dean Music & Arts Festival is weeks away, major sponsors have signed on to make the festival bigger and better than ever, according to event co-chairs Amber McCloud and Mike Melcher.
“Most of our early sponsors are community partners that have worked with us in the past and said they wanted to be on board from the get-go this year,” said Melcher. “We are honored to have each of them stepping up again, and we’re asking others to do the same. This is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community.”
The day-long festival takes place Saturday, Sept. 16, on Wayland Baptist University’s Plainview campus and includes an Arts & Craft Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside and around Laney Activity Center, live music all day, all kinds of vendors and food trucks, family fun, and an incredible concert at Harral Memorial Auditorium at 7 p.m. The Jimmy Dean Museum will be open all day for tours and special showings.
Smith Auto Family, which helped bring Billy Dean last year, is all-in again this year as the Concert Title Sponsor for a doubleheader Saturday night. Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys under the direction of Jason Roberts open the concert before Asleep at the Wheel takes the stage with their unique brand of music.
“Can you imagine having these two legendary Western swing bands together for a single concert?” asked McCloud. “We are so thankful Smith Auto Family is helping us make this happen here in Plainview.”
Returning at the Platinum Sponsor level are United Supermarkets and High Plains Concrete. They are joined at that level by H-E-B this year.
“Without these top-notch sponsors, there is no way we could put together this incredible event, which is now in its third year,” said McCloud. “These are the folks that make it possible, so thank them whenever you get an opportunity.”
Happy State Bank returns as a Gold Sponsor, and the Jimmy Dean Music & Arts Festival welcomes Bill Wells Chevrolet as a Silver sponsor. Prosperity Bank offers Dean’s List Support this year with another contribution to help get the festival going.
“Our sponsors are so important to making this event happen,” Melcher said. “But everyone needs to know that there are plenty of opportunities for others to be a part of this community event.”
