PLAINVIEW – Art and craft vendors, along with food truck operators, started securing their spots this week for the third annual Jimmy Dean Music & Arts Festival, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 16, on Wayland Baptist University’s Plainview campus.
Building on momentum created by the recent announcement that Asleep at the Wheel will headline the Saturday night festival concert, Jimmy Dean Music & Arts Festival co-chairs Amber McCloud and Mike Melcher announced Monday that vendors and food truck operators can now request spaces at JimmyDeanFestival.com.
“We knew there would be lots of interests among vendors and food trucks because we started getting inquiries right after the festival last year,” said McCloud, the event co-chair representing Wayland.
“We loaded up the place with vendors last year and had people wanting to set up outside. So, this year we’ve got spaces available inside and outside,” said Melcher, the event co-chair representing the Plainview community.
McCloud and Melcher expect spaces to go quickly both inside and outside, and as of Monday they were certainly not disappointed. “I guess we need to remind folks that spaces are limited,” McCloud said.
The arts and crafts portion of the day-long festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Laney Student Activities Center, as well as in the grassy area and parking lot south of the center. Vendor booths are $50 for a 10’x10’ space, while food truck and food booths are $75 for a variety of different sizes.
More than 1,000 people attended the Jimmy Dean Music & Arts Festival last year, checking out vendors, enjoying great food and then enjoying some great entertainment Saturday night.
“We’re expecting even more this year,” Melcher said. “This thing just keeps growing. This is our third year, and it’s going to be bigger than ever.”
Securing vendor or food truck space is easy. Just go to JimmyDeanFestival.com and click on the “Vendors” tab at the top. On the page that pops up, click on the “Register for a Booth” button and you are on your way to selecting your spot.
