LUBBOCK – Ladonna Gatlin will be the featured performer May 2 at the Denim and Diamonds Scholarship Gala, where Dr. June Hogue, Wayland Baptist University Professor Emeritus, will be honored for 50 years of service as a full-time educator, including 20 years at Wayland.
An annual gala raising funds to support scholarships for deserving students at Wayland Baptist University's Lubbock Campus, the Denim and Diamonds Scholarship Gala is a premier event that promising a night of entertainment and celebration.
“We are honored to have Ladonna Gatlin join us for the Denim and Diamonds Scholarship Gala and to recognize Dr. June Hogue's contributions to Wayland Baptist University and the field of education,” said Dr. Judy Jarratt, Executive Director of Wayland’s Lubbock Campus. “The funds raised at this event will provide critical support for our students, and we are grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and supporters.”
The gala takes place at Overton Hotel and Conference Center in Lubbock.
A member of the Gatlin Brothers country music band, Ladonna Gatlin is an acclaimed singer and motivational speaker. She has entertained audiences across the country with her powerful voice and inspiring messages.
The event honors Hogue, who served as a professor at Wayland Baptist University for half a century. Hogue’s dedication to education has impacted countless students throughout her tenure, and she continues to inspire current and future educators to this day.
