Mraović Poster Hanging in Russian Gallery

Mask PosterPLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University’s graphic design professor Dejan Mraović is continuing to find success with his COVID-19 inspired poster, “Mask.” The Mraovic design is one of only three posters from the United States selected to hang in the Red Zone poster competition organized by the International Association of Designers from Moscow, Russia.

According to Mraovic, the Red Zone (Красная Зона) is a competition designed to show gratitude to all medical workers around the world who have been caught up in the fight against COVID. Works by designers from 34 countries were selected to participate.

“The doctors and nurses are definitely in the Red Zone, fighting for the people’s lives,” Mraovic said. “Humankind has not experienced such a large-scale, deadly pandemic in a very long time.”

This is the second international showing for Mraovic’s poster. Last August, the poster was displayed as part of the Together We Win exhibit and contest organized by the People’s Republic of China embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Founded in 1987, the International Association of Designers consists of more than 25 design organizations. The Red Zone poster contest is a collaborative effort between the International Association of Designers and the Russian Academy of the Arts which was founded in 1757. The posters will be on exhibit in the Denis Davydov library in Moscow until July 4. The exhibit was previously on display in the Moscow Lyceum.
