Last week some of our nursing students participated in the San Antonio Mass Casualty Exercise and Evaluation. This drill is an annual city wide participation drill. Local hospitals and nursing schools joined together in preparation for some type of city wide mass casualty event whether it be a mass shooting, E-Coli outbreak, or any other mass injury type of event. Student volunteers are considered the injured/sick patients and are “triaged” and “evacuated” to hospitals according to their needs. They had a great time, and learned a lot!
