Looking for a job while you are in school?
All eligible students have the opportunity to participate in student employment programs at WBU. Students can gain valuable work experience and earn money to supplement their time at Wayland through student employment.
Three types of student employment programs are available: Federal Work-Study, Texas College Work-Study, and Institutional Student Employment. To participate in Federal Work- Study or Texas College Work Study, a student must have a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file for the current year.
Available student employment positions are determined by the need for assistance in
various offices as well as available funding. Students seeking employment should contact
their campus of primary attendance for information regarding student employment positions
The Office of Financial Aid keeps a Student Employment Department list that includes offices that generally offer student employment positions. Check with the Office of Financial Aid about positions that may be available. Students seeking employment should contact the hiring departments directly.
After securing a job, a student must sign a Work Agreement. Hiring department managers
should contact the Student Employment Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org, and provide the student's name, PowerCampus ID, and max hours for student. Work
agreements will be emailed to hiring manger for signatures and agreements should be
returned to the Office of Financial Aid.
Generally, students may work up to 20 hours a week at the current minimum wage. Time worked is reported on a time sheet, which is issued by the Office of Financial Aid. Time sheets should be emailed to the Student Employment Coordinator at email@example.com on the 15th and last day of each month.
International students are eligible to participate in the Institutional Student Employment
program with the appropriate work documents.
After a job is secured and prior to starting work, first-time student employees will need to complete a Student Employment Hiring Packet (may be emailed) and an I-9 (must be completed in-person with valid identification).
