Student Employment
Looking for a job while you are in
All eligible students have the opportunity to participate in work study programs at WBU. Students can gain valuable work experience and earn money to supplement their time at Wayland through student employment.
Two types of work study programs are available: Federal Work Study and Institutional Work Study. To participate in Federal Work Study, a student must have a Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) form on file for the current year.
Available student work positions are determined by the need for student work assistance
in various offices as well as available budget funds. Students seeking employment
should contact their campus of primary attendance for information regarding work study
positions available.
The Office of Financial Aid keeps a Student Employment Department list that includes
offices that generally offer Work Study positions. Check with Financial Aid about
work positions that may be available. Students seeking employment should contact
the departments directly. Contact the Work Study Coordinator in the Financial Aid
office with any questions.
After securing a job, a student must sign a Work Agreement, which can be acquired
by contacting the Financial Aid office.
Generally, students may work up to 20 hours a week at the current minimum wage. Time
worked is reported on a time sheet, which is issued by the Financial Aid office.
Time sheets should be turned in to the Financial Aid Office on the 15th and last day
of each month.
International students are eligible to participate in the Institutional Student Employment
program with the appropriate work documents. The combination of financial aid and
work earnings should not exceed one’s estimated cost of attendance.
After a job is secured and prior to starting work, the student will need to complete
and submit additional employment paperwork. This will be communicated to the student
at the time a position is offered.
