Master of Divinity

About this Program

As the standard professional degree for individuals entering Christian ministry, the Master of Divinity enables students to fill a leading ministry role in any church organization.

Many students working toward the Master of Divinity degree are already actively engaged in ministry. For that reason, the School of Religion and Philosophy offers an M.Div. program that is available wholly online, or through a combination of online and face-to-face courses at any of Wayland’s many campuses.

The Master of Divinity program prepares the student for effective ministry in the 21st century and seeks to prepare the entire person for service in the kingdom of God, by connecting the intellectual disciplines with practical training and spiritual development.

Students in this program will learn to interpret biblical material;  analyze and articulate their personal faith; and compare and contrast the biblical worldview with competing worldviews in order to better communicate the redemptive message of the gospel.

Lastly, a graduate of the Master of Divinity program should demonstrate an understanding of their personal call as a servant leader, guiding the local body of Christ to build the kingdom of God.
