About this Program

The keyboard/piano degree program provides a specialized professional major designed to prepare students for careers in keyboard performance across a range of disciplines.

In their studies, students develop advanced performance skills in solo piano and collaborative performance. Curriculum also encourages the advancement of pedagogical philosophies and an awareness for teaching repertoire.

The keyboard/piano degree program requires 27 hours in performance studies. Students will participate in university music courses including theory, conducting, private lessons, piano pedagogy, piano literature survey, applied music, ensemble performance, and junior/senior recitals.


A Bachelor of Music degree specializing in Keyboard Performance requires 129 course hours. A total of 42 hours must be from upper-level courses.

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education or Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education are invited to join.
