About this Program

An English minor offers training in effective written expression in English studies, as well as courses designed to acquaint students with works of literary merit. Students develop critical thinking, cultural awareness, and the ability to work creatively in a variety of environments related to public relations, teaching, the legal field, writing, and research.

As the English minor requires only 9 credit hours beyond the general education core, it proves accessible and popular with students. An English minor can add depth to many other major areas of study such as communications, marketing, or history.

To complete this minor, students are required to pass 18 hours of topical study.

Requirements

A minor in English requires 18 course hours. A total of six hours must be from upper-level courses.
