About this Program

The English degree offers training in effective written expression in English studies, as well as courses designed to acquaint students with works of literary merit.

A Bachelor of Arts in English develops critical thinking, cultural awareness, and the ability to work creatively in a variety of environments related to public relations, teaching, the legal field, writing, and research.

The English Language and Literature program offers courses in American and British Literature studies, studies in Young Adult Literature and other fictions, and various technical, grammatical, and creative writing seminars. The Bachelor of Arts in English requires 37 hours in a student’s major field of study and a maintained major GPA of at least a 3.0.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Arts degree in English requires 124 course hours. A total of 42 hours must be from upper-level courses.
