Bio

Karen Beth Strovas, Ph.D., is an associate professor of English in the School of Languages and Literature at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in writing and literature.  She also holds the position of assistant editor of Women’s Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal, a peer-reviewed scholarly journal. She enjoys working in different areas of academia, dividing her time between teaching, mentoring, editing, writing, and engaging in interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary projects with colleagues. Her research interests include nineteenth-century British literature, women’s studies, film adaptation, and sleep and sleeplessness in literature and film.

Strovas completed her Ph.D. in English in 2011 at Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. Other previous degrees she holds include English (M.A., Texas Tech University, 2007), and Violin Performance and English (B.A., Azusa Pacific University, 2004).

Outside of the classroom, she spends time with her husband (assistant professor of music history at WBU, Scott Strovas) and two children; attends WBU music, theater, and athletic events; reads mystery novels; and cooks and bakes.
