Student Organizations

Alpha Psi Omega

Alpha Psi Omega, the national dramatic honor society, is the largest national honor society in America. The society recognizes and encourages participation and excellence in the theatre.

Membership in Wayland’s Kappa Omega Cast is based on the following qualifications: a minimum overall GPA of 2.5; a 3.0 GPA in theatre courses; theatre participation; and selection by the membership committee.

Pledge season is held during the fall semester.

Speech and Debate

The Speech and Debate Team provides opportunities for students to compete in both individual events and parliamentary debate. Previous experience in high school is always appreciated but not at all necessary. In addition to the team’s competitive focus, students also have service learning opportunities with the regional high school speech and debate community as critics, coaches, and mentors.

For more information about individual events, see:

For more information about parliamentary debate, see:

Serious Speech and Debate Team members are eligible to earn course credit and scholarship money.
