About this Program

If you have a passion for performance, our stage is the place for you. Wayland’s musical theatre degree offers focused study in performing art courses.  In this audition-only program, students can look forward to a fast-paced, experience-based BFA in theatre, with concentrated study in musical theatre.

Within this Bachelor of Fine Arts program, students should expect to spend much of their time between the School of Fine Arts and School of Music.

Students following a musical theatre track in Wayland’s BFA will take 39 hours in area specific courses. The musical theatre degree includes classes like private voice lessons, audition and performance, musical theatre, ballet, jazz, and other performing art studies. Students will also have opportunities to perform in stage productions.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Arts in Theatre -Musical Theatre requires 124 semester hours.  39 hours of theatre, music,  piano, and exercise and sports science courses are required.

Organizations - Alpha Psi Omega

  • Alpha Psi Omega is the national dramatic honors society which encourages student participation and excellence in theatre.
  • Entry into Wayland’s Kappa Omega chapter requires a minimum GPA of 2.5, and a 3.0 in theatre courses, along with participation in theatre performances.
