About this Program
The early childhood education degree with a minor in children’s ministry is an interdisciplinary track that involves intensive study in both the School of Education and the School of Religion and Philosophy.
Completing the education coursework leads to teaching certification in Texas, and the minor in children’s ministry provides additional principles of Christian leadership and spiritual formation, as well as a strong theological foundation.
Elementary education majors who are minoring in children’s ministry will take 55 hours of upper-level study, completing 37 hours from the early childhood education degree plan and 18 hours of religious education courses, such as Early Literacy and Phonics, Principles and Practices of Education, and Youth Ministry in the Church.
An Elementary Education Degree, B.S.I.S. requires 124 semester hours. Students must pass the state content test (EC-6) generalist prior to clinical teaching. 36 hours are required for education courses and 18 hours of religion hours.View Degree Plan
