Student Accounts Advisor

 

 

LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University – Phoenix Campus: Fordham Site 

SUPERVISED BY: Site Coordinator 

POSITION CLASSIFICATION:  Part-time 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Academic and Student Accounts Advisor serves Admission Office functions and acts as liaison between students and Main Campus regarding Sierra Vista-Tucson student accounts receivables. This includes recruitment, counseling and account-monitoring functions. 

  1. Provides personal assistance to students regarding degree plan and program requirements;
  2. Obtains information from all relevant sources, analyzing information provided by students to evaluate and help students choose the best solution;
  3. Translates or explains information on degree plan requirements and school polices;
  4. Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.
  5. Provides guidance and expert advice on degree plans and policies and procedures to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics.                                                        

 SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: 

  1. Assist the Dean and the office staff to meet the needs of the Campus.
  2. Travel may be required as determined by the Dean or Site Coordinator.

 DUTIES RELATED TO STUDENTS ACCOUNTS ADVISING:

  1. Provide accurate and timely assistance to students regarding accounts.
  2. Provide accurate and timely information to Campus Student Accounts Coordinator, Phoenix Site Coordinator, Executive Director/Campus Dean, and Main Campus when required.
  3. Assists with accounts payable.
  4. Receive payments, and properly record information into the WBU databases.
  5. Provides biweekly and monthly reports to appropriate personnel.
  6. Assist in annual audit of student accounts.
  7. Take incoming phone calls tactfully and courteously.
  8. Tactfully greet current and prospective students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge of how to apply Christian principles in the work place is required.

One (1) year of office related experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. An in-depth understanding of, and commitment to, the “team” and “servant leadership” concepts are essential to advancing the Phoenix Campus mission.
  3. Excellent computer skills are required.
  4. Must be an excellent manager of time.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans. A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.   If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel.  Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license or have access to reliable transportation.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
