University Store/Concessions Clerk - Lubbock Campus

General Responsibilities: The University store Clerk prepares the merchandise for the purpose of selling. Receives, stores and issues floor merchandise. Stocks shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise and arranges merchandise displays to attract customers. Periodically takes physical count of stock or check and mark merchandise. Prepares concession items for sale and serves customers at the counter.


1.      Responsible for basic University spirit and concession store functions: selling inventory and snacks
2.      Stocks merchandise within the store/campus and assure quantities and quality of merchandise received is accurate and appropriate
3.      Answers telephone and provides information/assistance to students
4.      Requisitions merchandise from supplier based on available space, merchandise on hand, customer demand
5.      Arranges and cleans areas, service area, shelving, storage areas and receiving area as necessary
6.      Itemizes and totals customer merchandise selection at checkout, accepts and records payment and accepts charge card for purchases/payments
7.      Available for afternoon and evening hours.  May be required to be on-call at various times

Minimum Qualifications:


1.      High School Diploma preferred
2.      GED required

Experience and Knowledge:

1.      Retail experience preferred
2.      Inventory experience preferred
3.      Basic math skills
4.      Basic working knowledge of MS Office to include Word and Excel
5.      Ability to use UPS tracking system on the web
6.      Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and managing files and records
7.      Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

12.    Able to follow directions from supervisor
13.     Ability to lift 35 pounds (minimum) as required for job performance    

Conditions of Employment:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.   If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel..  Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
