Head Coach of Women's Golf (Part-Time)

LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University (WBU) – Plainview Campus 

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT:  Intercollegiate Athletics 

SUPERVISED BY: Athletics Director 

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Coach of Golf position requires all functions normally associated with an intercollegiate golf program and will be bound by the university and the athletic department mission statements.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: 

  1. Coaching and management of all practice and game events.
  2. Recruiting quality student athletes.
  3. Knowledge of and adherence to NAIA rules.
  4. Supervision of assistant coaches.
  5. Monitor teams’ academic performance.
  6. Scheduling of games and related events.
  7. Budget management, organization and supervision.
  8. Event preparations.
  9. Campus and community relations.
  10. Assist with marketing and development of the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree Required

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

Applicants must currently be active in the field with college level playing and coaching experience preferred. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. A commitment to a Christian lifestyle and coaching from a Christian perspective is essential.
  2. Applicants should have proven integrity, leadership skills, and the ability to motivate students to be successful academically and athletically.
  3. Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively with all members of the campus community and demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse population.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.  If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel and work on weekends and evenings. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
