GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Distance and Technical Services Librarian develops and implements programs and services that support the full cycle for research and learning for faculty and students at all WBU campuses in collaboration with faculty, library staff, and Multidisciplinary Tutorial Services; develops and maintains the library’s web presence; manages electronic holdings; shares weekend/evening hours with other library staff; fills in as needed in absence of other library staff; and serves on the Learning Resources Committee and other university committees as assigned. This position is based on a twelve-month contract.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Develop the library’s web presence using the University’s CMS as well as Springshare LibGuides and LibWizard to facilitate patron research.
- Collaborate with external campus and online faculty to provide and evolve remote library services.
- Provide reference services and instruction to faculty and students face-to-face, on the phone, and online via Zoom to individuals and entire classes.
- In collaboration with the Information Literacy and Reference Assistant, develop videos and tutorials, which will be made available online, demonstrating use of library resources.
- Supervise and ensure prompt delivery of materials and documents requested by local and distance learning communities under fair-use and copyright restrictions.
- Work with the director of library services to ensure goals and objectives of library support accreditation agency requirements.
- Provide access to electronic holdings using a hosted EZ Proxy server.
- Communicate with students, faculty, vendors, and IT as needed to resolve any issues arising from our electronic holdings
- Collect and compile usage statistics on electronic holdings as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Previous academic library experience.
- Experience with delivery of library instruction in a variety of settings.
- Knowledge and experience in providing print and electronic reference services.
- Knowledge and experience with library automation software (Sirsi), SpringShare apps (LibGuides, LibWizards), and LMS systems (Blackboard).
- Experience with technology and willingness to learn new applications.
- Familiarity with web programming and networking.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint.
- Ability to work independently, receiving minimum supervision and guidance on established procedures.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
- Sit at desk for extended periods of time.
- Some standing and filing.
- Some lifting of books and pushing book carts.
- Work in well lighted, ventilated, and air-conditioned office.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must pass background check. Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide recruitment assistance to external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
