Also bring copies of transcripts from any community college, junior college, vocational school, college and/or university attended, and copies of CLEP/DANTES score reports. Finally, if applicable bring copies of Enlisted Performance Reports (EPRs) that total at least 48 months.

U.S. Army: Begin with a visit with an education center counselor who will assist in acquiring the military documents required for an academic evaluation. Soldiers who entered active duty after 1 October l981, an Army/ ACE Registry Transcript (AARTS) is requested. For soldiers, who entered active service before 1 October l981, should request a DD Form 295 prepared by the installation local MILPO. Also bring copies of transcripts from any community college, junior college, vocational school, college and/or university attended. If applicable, bring copies of Non-commissioned Officer Efficiency Report (NCOERs) that total at least 48 months of evaluations.

All other military services: For service members in the Navy or U.S. Marines, attempt to secure a copy of SMART (Sailor/Marine ACE Transcript). If no SMART is available, bring a DD Form 295, Learning Experiences during Military Service for military work experience evaluations.

Active Duty National Guard or Reserves Service Member: For evaluation, the DD Form 295 Learning Experiences During Military Service, records of formal training, or applicable military service transcript is used for the academic evaluation of guard and reserve service members. Guard or Reserve service members should see their unit education officer for assistance. If applicable, bring copies of service performance evaluation that total at least 48 months.

Prospective students who are Former or Retired Service Members: Individuals, who have served on active, reserve, or national guard duty, and were discharged or retired, are issued a DD From 214, Certificate of Discharge. This certificate of discharge is used to assess military training for college level credits. Also, bring previous military reports that total at least 48 months.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA): Because Sierra Vista students enjoy the benefits of having textbooks included in the cost of tuition, army personnel can earn a bachelors degree at WBU with a minimum amount of out-of-pocket expenses. Military Tuition Assistance currently pays 100% tuition (up to a cap of $250 per credit hour, $4,500 per fiscal year).

Advising: To provide you with the best possible service, we recommend that you schedule an appointment for a free evaluation. Contact the WBU office on Fort Huachuca at (520)533-1047.

To ensure the most accurate evaluation, we recommend individuals bring along the following information:

  • NCOERs/OERs
  • Copies of college transcripts
  • CLEP/DANTES exam results
  • AARTS/SMARTS transcripts

These documents help the academic advisor determine the approximate number of college hours earned and how these earned college hours apply toward a particular degree program.

Wayland Baptist University awards up to 12 additional credit hours for work experience.
