Safety and Security Disclosure for 2006
Wayland is concerned about your safety and security. We assure you that we place a high priority on maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. We cannot, however, guarantee the absolute safety of any particular person. Since safety begins with the individual, you must take the responsibility for your own personal safety.
Crimes should be reported to the campus office during business hours. Crimes may be reported 24 hours a day by contacting the Sierra Vista Police Department at 520-458-3311 for non-emergencies and 911 for emergencies.
Campus security is provided by the Sierra Vista Police Department. The Landmark Campus office is open during the hours of 8:00 am. to 5:30 p.m. Classrooms are opened at 8:00 a.m. and are closed and locked at 9:45 pm.
The building housing the Wayland Sierra Vista office and classrooms has two outside entry/exit doors. These doors are open during the business day and classroom time. The building is locked at 9:45 pm. Additionally, this campus building has an alarm system installed and monitored by ADT.
Lighting in the Landmark Campus parking lot is provided and maintained by the Landmark Plaza management.
Wayland Baptist University prohibits the use of illegal drugs or alcohol. Wayland forbids the possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and/or paraphernalia and alcohol by the students and employees on its property or as a part of any activity of the University. Compliance with these standards of conduct for both students and employees is mandatory. Firearms for protection or for sport are strictly prohibited at Wayland. Anyone bringing weapons or firearms onto campus property will be dealt with according to the law.
In compliance with the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, Wayland reports the following crime statistics for the period of January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006. These statistics include incidents occurring on a campus-wide basis.

Crimes should be reported to the campus office during business hours. Crimes may be reported 24 hours a day by contacting the Fort Huachuca Police Department at 520-456-1353 for non-emergencies and 911 for emergencies.
Campus security is provided by the Military Police as the University is housed in an education building on a closed installation military base. All those entering the Post for educational purposes must show I.D. and proof of class registration with the University. The Fort Huachuca campus office is open during the hours of 8:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. Classrooms are opened at 11:30 am to 12:45 pm during the weekday for mid-day classes and 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm in the evening for night classes.
The building housing the Wayland Fort Huachuca office and classrooms has six outside entry/exit doors. Four of these doors are opened during the business day. The building is locked at 10:00 pm
Lighting in the parking area is provided by the Military Post. Additional lighting is provided by entrance/exit lights at the school building entrance. Building and military street lighting provides for the safety of staff personnel and students during their arrival and departure to the facility.
