FINANCIAL AID

Thank you for your interest in Wayland Baptist University. If you find that you need financial assistance, Wayland can help you with the Federal Financial Aid process.

To qualify for financial aid you need to be degree seeking, enrolled, and admitted to Wayland Baptist University. In order to ensure a successful outcome, it is important to understand the process. Please read the instruction below, and if you have any question please contact one of our Financial Aid Advisors.

STEP 1 - Applying for Aid - Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Include Wayland as a recipient of the information by entering Wayland Baptist University’s federal school code: 003663. Be sure to complete the appropriate academic year FAFSA for which you are seek assistance. www.fafsa.ed.gov

Immediately contact one of the financial aid advisor listed below once you have completed the FAFSA. This will allow us to better process your application.

Please note that you are not eligible for aid until your ADADEMIC FILE is complete. If you have questions regarding your academic file, please contact your academic advisor.

STEP 2Aid package reviewed- Wayland will receive a copy of your data in the form of an Institutional Student Information Form (ISIR). You will receive your own copy of the data in the form of a Student Aid Report (SAR). Read the instruction page carefully, review the information for accuracy and contact the Financial Aid Staff at Phoenix campus (listed below) if corrections appear to be necessary. Do not make corrections yourself without first contacting a Financial Aid Advisor. Corrections can usually be processed electronically within a matter of days.

STEP 3You will be contacted - Please be sure to activate your WBU e-mail account. Students will be notified via WBU e-mail in regards to all financial aid issues.

Email instructions are at http://www.wbu.edu/current_students/student_email/default.htm. Please supply Wayland with an alternate email if you are a new student and have not enrolled in any classes.

If Selected for Verification – You may be randomly selected for verification by the Department of Education, if so you will receive further information for Wayland at that time.

STEP 4 – Award of Aid- Upon completion of your financial aid file, Wayland will send you an Award Letter. This e-mail will contain directions for the next step of your financial aid process.  Acceptance of your Award will be processed through an online program called NetPartner, this will allow students to view and accept current year aid. Any revisions to your award will be handled in the same manner.

STEP 5- Accepting the Award - On NetPartner's "Accept Awards" tab, accept or decline all awards and "submit" this also applies to PELL Grants. Each school year you will be required to complete a Loan Entrance Counseling if you are seeking a loan, this will be found at: www.studentloans.gov. Loan proceeds will not be disbursed to a student’s account until this has been completed and student is fully admitted into the University.

STEP 6Selecting a student loan- If you have chosen to accept student loans, you will be required to access www.studentloans.gov and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN).  For more efficient and timely processing, it is recommended that students have their FAFSA PIN number available when signing their Master Promissory Note (MPN).
