PLAINVIEW – On Friday, June 19, Wayland Baptist University alumni and friends will have the opportunity to meet and support two of their own at a “baseball and barbecue” event with the Amarillo Dillas. The Dillas, a team of the United League Baseball, and former Pioneer Baseball players Brian Bueno and Taylor Allen, will be playing at the Dilla Villa, located in Amarillo on 3300 East Third.

“It’s always great food and a lot of fun,” said Danny Andrews, Wayland’s Director of Alumni Development, who plans to see this year’s turnout as successful as the two previous years.

The event is open to any who are interested, whether alumni, students, or just baseball fans. There will be an all-you-can eat barbeque with ‘all the fixins’ as well as drawings for prizes for Wayland supporters. The group will sit together and be recognized during the game.

The cost, which includes the meal, is $15 for adults and $10 for children and current Wayland students. The Wayland group will meet at 6 p.m. for food and fellowship. The game against the Edinburg Roadrunners will follow at 7:05 p.m. If there is enough interest, Wayland will provide transportation to the field.

For more information or to reserve a spot for the outing, contact the Alumni Office at 291-3600 or 291-3603.
