tickets available for women in business dinner, speaker announced

Release Date: April 2, 2009

PLAINVIEW – Laura Hardin, master facilitator for WesTex Allied Communities, will be the keynote speaker for the Wayland Baptist University Women in Business awards banquet, slated April 23.

The highlight of the banquet will be the presentation of the Women in Business Awards to Plainview residents Lena Faye Hill, Jennifer Marley and Jeanie Pennell. Hill is a longtime insurance agent with Morgan-Eaves Agency, while Marley is a self-employed certified public accountant. Pennell recently retired from the Barnyard Academy, which offered lessons in dance, baton and gymnastics.

In her role with WesTex, Hardin helps people transform their dreams and talents into viable business ventures by providing free, confidential business management coaching to entrepreneurs in Lamb County and the city of Anton. Prior to that position, she was sales and marketing manager for Europe for the Claude Laval Corporation, a manufacturer of filtration systems based in Fresno, Calif. She enjoyed great success in that position, increasing the company’s sales to the continent by 37 percent and building new markets in Asia before that.

Hardin was originally hired as executive assistant to the executive vice president, but was tapped for promotion due to her strengths in building relationships and assisting others in maximizing their potential and personal goals.

The dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. in the McClung Center room 211. Tickets are $22.50 per person and are available from any SIFE member at Wayland or by calling the School of Business at 291-1020 or 291-1029.
