Wayland Students to "Trick or Treat" for FISH

PLAINVIEW – Students from the Division of Fine Arts at Wayland Baptist University will be visiting homes around Plainview on Monday, Oct. 30, to collect donations for Faith in Sharing House, a local nonprofit food pantry.

Students will be “trick or treating” in costumes that evening, beginning around 5 p.m. and running no later than 9 p.m., hitting various neighborhoods around town. Those wishing to contribute that will not be home may bring donations to the circular drive outside Harral Auditorium (7th and Utica Streets) by 5 p.m. Residents may also leave donations on their porch, but Wayland requests a phone call for pickup since they will not be hitting every block in town.

Donations of non-perishable foods, such as canned fruits, vegetables, soups and meats, baby food, bagged rice and beans and others, are needed, along with toiletries, paper goods and laundry detergents.

The costumed collection effort is in its sixth year for Wayland students, started by theatre students. This year, however, students from music, art, speech and mass communication will also be participating.

To request a pickup of donations that night, call Marlene Reed at 291-1060.
