Wayland plans Gold Rush weekend

PLAINVIEW - Wayland Baptist University in Plainview will hold Gold Rush, its fall preview event, on Saturday, Nov. 11, welcoming prospective students to campus for a day of events and information about the university. Gold Rush is open to high school juniors, seniors and college transfer students who are seeking more information about Wayland.

“This is an opportunity for prospective students and their families to come to our campus and see what Wayland is all about,” said Jennifer Beal, Wayland’s director of admissions. “We want to give students the opportunity to tour our campus, meet with our professors, staff members and students and get a better understanding of who we are and what we offer. It is also a chance for them to ask questions about financial aid, registration and other things that can be stressful when applying to a college.”

Prospective students and their parents will participate in information sessions on academic opportunities, financial aid and other areas, as well as taking part in mock classes, scholarship drawings and music, theatre and art auditions. Wayland’s theatre department will also present Terra Nova at 8 p.m. in the Black Box theatre.

For more information on attending the event, contact Wayland’s Office of Admissions at 806-291-3500, or register online at www.wbu.edu, click on the Gold Rush link.
