Hawaii Campus Scholarships

Scholarships Application Checklist: 

  • Contact Linda AhHee (contact number is main campus line..808-488-8570)
  • Write a personal letter requesting the scholarship.
  • Fill out the Wayland Baptist University Institutional Application for Financial Aid (current school year).
  • Supply a copy of your deployment orders (deployed spouse scholarship only)
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from your pastor stating that the applicant is a member in good standing. (General and Ministerial scholarships only)
  • Schedule a personal interview with the Hawaii Campus Executive Director. (General and Ministerial scholarships only)

Types of Scholarships

Hawaii General Scholarship: The scholarship is made possible through donations from faculty, staff, and past and current students of Wayland Baptist University. Furthermore, the Hawaii General Scholarship Funds receives limited annual allocation of resources originated from vendor commissions. Awards are based on funds availability and need.

Eligibility: The Hawaii General Scholarship is a competitive scholarship. Applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • Request Letter: Please type a 1-2 page letter to WBU Scholarship Committee including the following:
    • Enrollment plans per term/academic year
      • Full time/ Part time status
      • How many credit hours do you plan to take each term
    • College aspirations/goals
    • Explain your financial need (i.e. why do you need financial assistance?)

Recommended (not required): Letter of recommendation from a significant person of your choice who can successfully endorse your eligibility for this scholarship. 

Hawaii Ministerial Scholarship:  The scholarship is made possible through donations from faculty, staff, and past and current students of Wayland Baptist University.  Furthermore, the Hawaii General Scholarship Funds receives limited annual allocation of resources originated from vendor commissions. Awards are based on funds availability and need.  

Requirement: The applicant must be active in church ministry and seeking to enhance their ministerial skills. Applicants must be enrolled in one of the following degree programs: AAS Religion, Bachelors of Christian Ministry, Masters of Christian Ministry, or Masters of Divinity. Applicants are required to meet academic standards (good standing).

Required Documents:

1)  Scholarship Application Form

2)  Request Letter: Please type a 1-2 page letter to WBU Hawaii Scholarship Committee including the following:·

  • Enrollment plans per term/academic year - Full time/ Part time status.   
  • How many credit hours do you plan to take each term.        
  • Outline your church involvement.        
  • Explain your financial need (i.e. why do you need financial assistance?)        
  • Letter of Recommendation from your Senior Pastor, documenting your ministry experience.

 

Spouse of a current WBU – Hawaii student:

Scholarship awards will be 25% of tuition expenses, up to $500 per quarter. This scholarship is renewable pending on availability of funds for each academic year.

Eligibility: Spouses are required to be enrolled in classes for each term of requesting this scholarship. Scholarship applies to one spouse only.

Required Documents:

  • Scholarship Application Form
  • Request Letter: Please type a 1-2 page letter to WBU Scholarship Committee including the following:
    • Enrollment plans per term/academic year
      • Full time/ Part time status
      • How many credit hours do you plan to take each term
    • Include your spouse’s name and student ID number
    • Explain your financial need (i.e. why do you need financial assistance?)
Spouse of Deployed Armed Forces Member:

scholarship awards will be 25% of tuition expenses, up to $500 per quarter. This scholarship is renewable pending on availability of funds for each academic year.

Eligibility: Spouse must have been deployed or will be deployed for a period of at least 90 days. It must be a new student. TDYs do not qualify.

    • Include your spouse’s name and duration of deployment
    • Explain your financial need (i.e. why do you need financial assistance?)
Loretta Cornett-Huff Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship was formed to honor the late MCBH ESO Loretta Cornett-Huff for her 20 years of service and dedication to the educational success of Marines and their dependents. Scholarship awards will be distributed via the Wayland Baptist University Financial Aid Office. Scholarship recipients must use their scholarship (or continue their program of study) before or during Fall or Spring term. Award is based on funds available.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Are attending (or plan to attend) Wayland Baptist University-must be degree seeking
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Are an active duty Marine, qualified to attend college
