All-School Steinway Initiative

The School of Music at Wayland Baptist University has embarked on an exciting journey to become an All-Steinway School. To earn All-Steinway designation, Wayland's piano inventory must consist of Steinway and Sons, Boston or Essex instruments. Dean of the School of Music Dr. Ann Stutes says that becoming an All-Steinway School teaches students. "that there are no substitutions for quality when it comes to making music and sharing that music with others."

The campaign consists of four phases based upon an assessment of critical needs.

  • PHASE I: Purchase a new Concert Grand Piano for Harral performances, and rebuild the current Steinway Concert Grand to use for rehearsals and performances.
Cost: $154,000 (This phase is complete!)
  • PHASE II: Purchase two grand pianos for the piano faculty teaching studio and one upright Steinway and Sons piano for the piano major student practice room.
    Cost: $152,000
  • PHASE III: Purchase 11 pianos to be used in faculty studios, classrooms, composition studio and practice rooms.
    Cost: $150,000
  • PHASE IV: Purchase 14 additional pianos to be placed throughout campus in teaching studios, rehearsal halls and public facilities.
    Cost: $158,000

INITIATIVE TOTAL: $614,000

REMAINING TOTAL: $460,000

Did you Know?

In March 2012 Wayland entered into an agreement with Steinway & Sons of Dallas to begin the journey toward becoming only the sixth All-Steinway School in the state of Texas.

All donations made to this fund will help Wayland complete the initiative and become an All-Steinway School - a symbol of excellence that only 135 other collegiate institutions can claim.
