| Mission: The Sally Society is a group of women formed to provide education related to philanthropy, to inspire women to become leaders in philanthropy, and to demonstrate the impact of joy and philanthropy on the projects and programs of Wayland Baptist University.
Background: The Sally Society was named to honor the memory of Wayland's first female philanthropist, Sarah Tucker Wayland, who was affectionately called Sally by her husband and our founder, Dr. James H. Wayland.
Membership: The Society opens membership to all women with a desire to support Wayland, with annual dues of $1000, payable in installments or in a lump sum. Members of the Sally Society decide as a group how their yearly dues and additional funds will benefit Wayland. The Society's first project was the endowment of Sarah Tucker Wayland Scholarship that will benefit a female student each year.
The Power of the Purse will be held April 9, 2013. This annual fund-raiser is open to Sally Society members as well as other interested local and area women who wish to participate in the projects and activities of The Sally Society. Included in the fun and informative luncheon event are both silent and live purse auctions. |
