RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Aid Loan Specialist is responsible for processing student loan requests, originations, and disbursements. 

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Applicant must have the have the ability to deal diplomatically with students, faculty, and external campus personnel.

2.  Punctuality, dependability, integrity, honesty and loyalty in the performance of duties are required for the position.

3.  Monitoring end of term student graduation data for loan borrowers.

4.  Assisting the Loan Coordinator with disbursements and reconciliation.

5.  Assisting and maintaining the critical hold records in PowerCampus.

6.  The applicant will need to be a positive force in the office by portraying a positive attitude toward other office personnel, both in phone conversation and in greeting students, faculty and staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and License:

Associates Degree in a field of business is preferred or three (3) years extensive current office experience.   

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Progressive office experience, preferably in financial aid.

2.  Knowledge of the financial aid process and terminology would be extremely helpful.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Possess strong organizational and analytical skills.

2.  Possess strong oral and written communications skills.

3.  Must have good PC skills and experience in computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint experience.

4.  Ability to learn and retain vast amounts of information from a wide variety of sources.

5.  Meticulous attention to detail is required. 

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.  A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
