DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - rIO GRANDE VALLEY (S605)

Wayland Baptist University - San Antonio Campus

OFFICE: Extension locations at the Valley Baptist Missions Education Center and Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, with possible other locations throughout the Rio Grand Valley.
SUPERVISED BY:

Assistant Executive Director/Dean of the San Antonio campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Operations oversees all operations related to the teaching site/s in the Rio Grande Valley.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Oversees all operations, which includes all academic and fiscal matters of the Texas Rio Grande Valley area locations.

2.  Works with the San Antonio Campus Executive Director/Dean in developing an annual budget for the site. Serves as liaison with Texas State Technical College, Valley Baptist Missions Education Center, Valley Baptist Association, South Texas College, and other related education institutions, and local churches relevant to the teaching sites.

3.  Supervises the academic and administrative staff. Oversees and provides academic advising for students.

4.  Oversees publicity and promotion of WBU’s programs.

5.  Establishes and maintains liaison and communication and ensures appropriate exchange with academic and administrative offices at the San Antonio and Plainview Campuses.

6.  Assists in graduation ceremonies as possible.

7.  Provides oversight for support of faculty and facilitators who are teaching at local sites. Coordinates classrooms with TSTC, VBMEC, STC, etc. and local churches as applicable.

8.  Recruits students.

9.  Formulates and/or implements policies for the operations of the location. Completes work assigned by the San Antonio Campus Assistant Executive Director/Dean or Executive Director/Dean.

10.  Provides expert advice to the San Antonio Campus administration on matters related to the location. Resolves problems as they arise, or recommends solutions. Travels in the Valley and south Texas or otherwise as required.

11.  Builds key community relationships throughout the Valley. Works closely with the Director of the Certificate of Christian Ministry program to enlist and train facilitators, encourage participating churches, and enroll students.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  Masters Degree in ­business, counseling, education, religion or related field required.

2.  Doctoral Degree in ­business, counseling, education, religion or related field desired.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Previous experience as an academic advisor at Wayland Baptist University or comparable institution is highly desirable.

2.  A deep commitment to Christian Higher Education and agreement with the purposes and philosophy of higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and WBU in particular. 

3. A servant’s heart with administrative experience in a customer service setting.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Ability to speak and write in Spanish is a plus

2.  Must be people-service centered.

3.  Possess strong administrative skills.

4.  Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

5.  Demonstrate commitment to the mission of the university.

6.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

7.  Must possess outstanding verbal and written skills plus good listening skills.

8.  Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.

9.  Ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures.

10.  Ability to prioritize. 

11.  Flexible and available to work extended hours as needed.

12.  Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others.

13.  Ability to speak effectively in public to both small and large audiences.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.  A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
