SUPERVISED BY:

Head Track & Field Coach, Head Cross Country Coach, and Athletic Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for assisting with the management, coaching and oversight of all phases of the program with specific responsibilities in the high jump, pole vault, long jump and triple jump events.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Coordinates the recruiting of student-athletes who have the ability and potential, athletically and academically, to achieve success at WBU. In that sense, the Coach serves as a recruiting officer of the University, attracting students to participate in the programs. 

2.  A commitment to a Christian lifestyle and coaching from a Christian perspective is essential.

3.  Assist in the planning, organizing and supervision of the Varsity Track & Field program.

4.  Adhere to all policies and procedures of the NAIA, the Sooner Athletic Conference and WBU

5.  Arrange for the use of facilities and vehicles through the Athletics Director and Head Coach.

6.  Assist with the keeping of records and upkeep of uniforms, equipment, and supplies issued during the season.

7.  In the absence of the Head Coach be responsible for the team or portions of the team in both practice and competition.

8.  Assist with the management and maintenance of all track & field venues and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  Bachelors Degree in ­Exercise Science or closely related field is preferred.

2.  Masters Degree in EXSS or closely related field is preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  High School & College competitive experience is required.

2.  Collegiate coaching experience in Track & Field is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Possess good PC skills and experience in word processing, spreadsheet and databases.

2.  Possess strong coaching skills and the ability to motivate student athletes.

3.  Possess written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of constituents.

4.  Posses a strong background in the jumps area of track & field.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.  A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
