RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Aid Clerk coordinates the processing and disbursement of student financial aid.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Advise students regarding requirements for Federal Student Aid, Alaska Student Loan, and Institutional Scholarships.

2.  Process and maintain financial aid files.

3.  Regular batch mail and/or electronic data processing to campus of financial aid materials.

4.  Communicate with financial aid office in Plainview, Texas regarding application and award of financial aid.

5.  Track progress of financial aid including contacting students and other schools for additional documentation.

6.  Coordinate, Disburse Alaska Student Loans.  Maintain accurate files for Alaska Student Loan Audits.

7.  Serve as certifying official for Veterans Administration.

8.  Assist in front office in answering telephone, assisting students at the front desk, filing of registrations, grades, etc.

9.  Assist with graduation ceremonies twice per year.

10.  Must be computer proficient, including Microsoft Office.  Must be able to learn WBU’s institutional software package.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience & Knowledge:

Clerical and administrative experience required.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Must be people-service centered.

2.  Possess strong administrative skills.

3.  Juggle multiple tasks.

4.  Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the university a must. 

5.  Must possess good PC skills and experience in Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint experience.

6.  Communication skills:  must possess good verbal and written skills plus good listening skills.

7.  Organizational skills:  must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.

8. Understand and interpret personnel policies and procedures.

9. Ability to prioritize. Flexible and available to work extended hours as needed.

10.  Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively with others.

Additional Requirements:

1. Must be able to pass Background Checks.

2. Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans on Credit Report.

3.  Must reside in Anchorage or surrounding community, Alaska.
