RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Art Gallery Administrative Assistant is responsible for the day to day operations of the Abraham Art Gallery.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Answers phone, provide gallery security and oversight, and handle sales of artwork.

2.  Receive shipments of artworks.

3.  Assist in installation of art exhibitions and strike and re-crating of exhibition works.

4.  Docent services where needed (guiding groups through an exhibition and providing enrichment information, historical information and commentary on the works of art.)

5.  Maintain the gallery schedule (hours open)

6.  Attending and assisting with receptions.

7.  Attending to the needs of guest artists and working with the public.

8.  Assist with identifying maintenance needs of the gallery space and storage areas.

9.  Assist with budget for art gallery and gallery agency accounts.

10. Schedule public and private area events for art gallery.

11. Supervises and schedules student workers and volunteer assistants.

12. Coordinate area school art gallery events.

13. Promote public events in art gallery.

14. Assist with shipping of art.

15. Assist with art marketing.

16. Assist with care of art collection.  Documentation and preservation.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2.  College experience desired.

Experience & Knowledge:

One (1) to three (3) years of art gallery experience is desirable

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Ability to pay careful attention to detail.

2.  Take initiative and work well with others.

3.  Respect for artists and artworks.

4.  Must be an organized individual who is able to make gallery first priority.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted items on Credit Report.  A credit check will be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
