Director of Financial Aid


The Work-Study Coordinator deals directly with students and parents by answering questions pertaining to financial aid and work study opportunities and/or procedures.


1.  Receive and post federal and institutional work study documents.

2.  Issue work study authorizations.  

3.  Post work study time sheets.

4.  Prepare payroll reports each pay period.

5.  Reconcile records with business office each month.

6.  Monitor departmental work study budgets.

7.  Schedule and assist with work study orientations.

8.  Plan and host work study appreciation events.

9.  Work directly with the Office of Admissions with International Students who are eligible to work.

10.  Work directly with the Office of Human Resources.

11.  Assist with phone calls.

12.  Assist students with Financial Aid questions in addition to work study related questions.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  High School Diploma or GED required.

2.  College Degree in a field of business is preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Three (3) to five (5) year administrative experience required.

2.  Knowledge of the financial aid process and terminology would be extremely helpful.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Possess strong oral and written communications skills.

2.   Possess strong organizational and analytical skills.

3.   Ability to work alone and with minimal supervision.  

4.   Meticulous attention to detail.                         

5.  Minimum computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

6.   Applicant must have the ability to learn and retain vast amounts of information from a wide variety      of sources.

7.  Have the ability to deal diplomatically with students, faculty, and external campus personnel. 

8.  Punctuality, dependability, integrity, honesty and loyalty in the performance of duties are required.

9. The successful applicant will need to have a commitment to Christian Higher Education and be in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian Higher Education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas generally, and Wayland Baptist University particularly. 

10. The applicant will need to be a positive force in the office by portraying a positive attitude toward other office personnel, both in phone conversation and in greeting students, faculty and staff members.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted items on Credit Report.  A credit check will be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
