RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Professor of Business will work under the supervision of the Executive Director/Dean of the Albuquerque Campus. As a faculty member of WBU—ABQ, he/she will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphases to the students, faculty, staff, and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Prepare and teach thirty-three (33) semester hours of courses each academic year. This might include a combination of classroom courses and on-line (Virtual Campus) courses.  Up to six (6) additional semester hours per term can be taught at the approved pay rate for overload assignments, not to exceed a total of 24 additional semester hours per year.

2.  Assist in developing the Albuquerque schedule of business course offerings.

3.  Advise undergraduate and graduate students on degree plans, assist with registration, and perform the duties of a student advocate in discussions with the School of Business.

4.  Develop WBU—ABQs business, management, and human resource courses and programs, educational delivery systems, reporting of data, textbook selection, and syllabi development.

5.  Assist the School of Business in developing new business courses/programs and educational delivery systems, reporting data, selecting textbooks, and developing syllabi.

6.  With the approval by the Executive Director/Dean of the Albuquerque Campus, serve on university, faculty, and School of Business committees as assigned.

7.  Assist with and attend all graduations at the Albuquerque campus.

8.  Promote WBU—ABQ academic programs, including local recruiting and making contacts and developing relationships with local businesses and industry.

9.  Attend scheduled and approved faculty/staff meetings, including both local and School of Business meetings.

10.  Assist the Executive Director/Dean of the Albuquerque Campus and local staff with university-related projects, meetings, and other tasks as needed.

11.  Assist the adjunct business faculty with faculty development, teaching skills, and classroom resources.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  A terminal degree (doctorate) in an area of business with at least eighteen graduate hours in the primary area(s) of instruction (management) is desired. 

2.  Individuals within two years of completion of their terminal degree will be considered. Individuals who have not completed the terminal degree will have a contractual obligation to complete it within a specified period. Individuals with the terminal degree in hand will be given primary consideration.

3.  Eighteen graduate hours along with experience or interest in another business area is desired.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Recent experience teaching business/management in a college or university setting is required.          

2.  Evidence of successful teaching will be required (i.e., recommendations, student evaluations, and sample syllabi).

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Proficiency with computer software and multimedia equipment is required.

2.  Ability to develop and maintain and relationships within the business community is required. 

3. Fluency in the English language is required.

4.  Strong writing and speaking skills are required.

Additional Requirements:

1. Endorsement by the Executive Vice President/Provost.

2. Must be able to pass Background Checks.

3. Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans on Credit Report.
