ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BUSINESS (F47)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Professor of Business will work under the supervision of the Campus Dean. As a faculty member of WBU he/she will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphases to the students, faculty, staff, and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:

1. Prepare and teach thirty-three (33) semester hours of courses each academic year. This will include a combination of classroom courses and on-line (Virtual Campus) courses. 

2. Assist the dean in schedule development.

3.     Advise undergraduate and graduate students on degree plans, assist with registration, and perform the duties of a student advocate in discussions with the School of Business.

4. Assist the dean and school members in developing new business courses and programs, educational delivery systems, reporting of data, textbook selection, and syllabi development.

5. Serve on University, Faculty, and Division Committees.

6.   Assist with and attend all graduations at the local campus.

7. Assist in promoting the WBU academic programs, including local recruiting and making contacts with local businesses; development of relationships with local businesses and industry.

8. Attend scheduled faculty/staff meetings, including both local and divisional meetings.
9.  Assist the dean and local staff with university-related projects, meetings, and other tasks as needed.
10.    Assist the adjunct faculty with faculty development, teaching skills, and classroom resources.

The above statements are not a complete list of all responsibilities and duties performed by employees in this job. Employee may perform other related duties as assigned by the Campus Dean, Division Chair,  or Provost/Vice President of  Academic/Graduate Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A written statement of personal faith in Jesus Christ is required.

Academic:

1. Individuals within two years of completion of their terminal degree will be considered.  Individuals who have not completed the terminal degree will have a contractual obligation to complete it within a specified time frame.  Individuals with the terminal degree in hand will be given primary consideration.

2. A terminal degree (doctorate) in an area of business with at least eighteen graduate hours in the primary area(s) of instruction (management) is desired.

3. Eighteen graduate hours along with experience or interest in another business area is desired.

    Experience &  Knowledge:

1. Recent experience teaching business/ management in a college or university setting is required. 

2.  Evidence of successful teaching will be required (i.e. recommendations, student evaluations, etc.).

Skills & Abilities:

1.   Proficiency with computer software and multimedia equipment is required.

2.   Ability to build and maintain relationships within the business community is required.

3. Fluency in the English language is required.

4.  Strong writing and speaking skills are desired.

     Additional Requirements:

1. Endorsement by the Provost/ Academic Vice President.

2. Must be able to pass Background Checks.
