RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sports Science will work under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Education and Exercise & Sports Science.Primary responsibilities include teaching activity courses, physical education pedagogy courses and exercise and sports science courses.  As a faculty member of WBU he/she will represent the University's academic and spiritual emphasis to the students, faculty, staff,and the community in a manner consistent with the University's mission and purpose.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:

1.  Teaching a total of 24 semester hours per academic year of courses in the activity courses, physical education pedagogy courses and exercise and sports science courses.

2.  Advising undergraduate students.

3.  Serving on university and division committees.

4.  Actively engaging in professional development activities such as research.

5.   Providing substantial opportunities for student involvement in field-study experiences within the context of appropriate classes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic:

1. Doctorate in Exercise and Sports Science or closely related field preferred.

2. ABD, with graduation date confirmed will be considered.

    Experience &  Knowledge:
Previous K-12 teaching experience is desirable. 
Skills & Abilities:

1. Candidates must be in agreement with the Christian philosophy of the university and must demonstrate a personal Christian faith. 

2. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to teaching, academic excellence, student advising and the life of the university.

     Additional Requirements:

1. Endorsement by the Provost/Academic Vice President.

2. Must be able to pass required Background Checks.
