     What exactly is art?
Art, by definition, is the expression of the artist. It gives you a glimpse into the artist’s soul. To catch a glimpse into the souls of our youth, our future, stop by the Scholastic Art show here at Wayland.
Dozens of schools from the West Texas area submitted hundreds of pieces of art for this Scholastic Art competition. These are beautiful pieces from talented students that show their own unique perspectives.
Local artists who judged these pieces looked at creativity, composition and execution.
There is something for everyone to enjoy in the collection of pieces that placed Gold, Silver and honorable mention in the competition.
The art pieces range from project designs and sculpture to painting. There are nature pieces, industrial pieces and even pieces made from panty hose.
The scholastic art show will be on exhibit in the Abraham Art Gallery in the basement of the library Jan. 28 through Feb. 23. Admission is free, so come by and support the talent of our West Texas students.
