SAFETY AND DISCLOSURE STATEMENT

 

Wayland is concerned about your safety and security. We assure you that we place a high priority on maintaining a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. We cannot, however, guarantee the absolute safety of any particular student. Since safety begins with the individual, you must take the responsibility for your own personal safety.

The information provided below is designed to assist each individual in the development of a personal safety and security plan.
1. Avoid walking alone, especially after dark.
2. Park cars in well-lighted parking areas.
3. Lock your vehicle. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle within view.
4. Report suspicious persons to WBU staff, faculty, or the Clovis police.
5. Never leave personal belongings unattended.
6. Register, engrave, or mark all valuable possessions.
7. Know who to call in an emergency. (See numbers below.)

Crimes should be reported to the campus office during normal business hours as soon as possible after the crime has occurred. Crimes may be reported 24 hours a day by calling the Clovis Police Department at 769-1921 for non-emergencies and 911 for emergencies. Crimes occurring on Cannon AFB must be reported to the Base Security Police at 784-4111.

Wayland Baptist University-Clovis locks our building at 8:00 p.m. The last instructor in the building is responsible for securing the building. Students may not stay in the building after it is secured.

Wayland Baptist University prohibits the use of illegal drugs or consumption of alcohol. Wayland Baptist University forbids the possession, use, or distribution of alcohol, illicit drugs, and/or drug paraphernalia by students or employees as a part of any University activity or any non-University activity held on University property. Compliance with these standards of conduct for student, faculty, staff, and guests is mandatory.

Firearms for protection or sport are prohibited at Wayland. Absolutely no weapons may be brought onto the campus, except by official law enforcement personnel.

In compliance with the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act, Wayland Baptist University has complied and reports the following crime statistics and the frequency of their occurrence within each time period.
