
MEET THE COACHES
Tory Bryant - Flying Queens Head CoachTory Bryant recently took over as the 12th head coach in Flying Queen's history. As head coach at Trinity Christian High School the past three years, Coach Bryant compiled a 96-19 record and won two TAPPS Class 4A State Championships. He was named the 2005-06 TAPPS District 1-4A Coach of the Year and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s All-City Coach of the Year. This past season, the Lady Lions were 31-8 and advanced to the TAPPS Class 5A State title game. Prior to his time in Lubbock, Coach Bryant served as assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Texas at Arlington from July 2001 to July 2004. He was the Lady Maverick’s recruiting coordinator and managed the year round strength and conditioning program. A Plainview native and a 1994 graduate of Plainview High School, Coach Bryant was a member of the 1994 Class 5A State Championship basketball team coached by the legendary Carl Irlbeck. He went on to play collegiate basketball at Sul Ross State University for two seasons, before transferring to Texas Tech, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sports and Science in 1999. Coach Bryant was a student assistant and head junior varsity coach at Lubbock Christian University from 1998-1999, and then moved on to West Texas A&M University. A graduate assistant for the Lady Buffs basketball team for two years where he served as recruiting coordinator and was in charge of scouting and tournament and pre-conference scheduling, Bryant received his Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in August of 2001 from WTA&MU. Coach Bryant and his wife, Lee, have one daughter, Devyn, who is 17 months. |
Rusty Rainbolt- Assistant CoachRusty Rainbolt comes to Wayland from Hardin Simmons University where he spent the 2006-07 season as a Graduate Assistant in charge of coaching posts and recruiting. A native of Sweetwater, Tex. and a graduate of Sweetwater High School, Coach Rainbolt attended Texas Tech University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He began his coaching career in 2003 at Trinity Christian High School where he won two state championships working as an assistant under Coach Bryant. Coach Rainbolt is married to his high school sweetheart, Audra. The two are expecting their first child in October. |
Brandi French - Graduate AssistantBrandi French has spent the past four seasons in various capacities for the Flying Queens basketball program. She was a player for two seasons on the Queen's Junior Varsity team, spent the past two seasons as the Flying Queens Student Assistant Coach and was head of the JV program last fall. Under Coach Bryant, Coach French will serve as the Graduate Assistant. A native of Texline, she will receive her bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences in December. |
Joe Adams- Student Assistant CoachJoe Adams is in his first year at Wayland Baptist. He was 8th grade and assistant varsity coach at Trinity Christian High School the past two years. Coach Adams is a native of Petersburg, Tex. He attended Petersburg High School and was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and track. An All-District, All-Region and All-State basketball honoree his senior year, he played at WBU following his high school graduation, and then went on to coach at South Plains College. Coach Adams, who is currently working on a degree in education, and his wife, Stacy, have a seven-year-old daughter named Arielle. |
